Conclusions
HrQoL improves after cardiac surgery with or without add-on surgery, but this
improvement is probably more affected by treating the underlying heart disease
than by restoring SR. Furthermore general HrQoL instruments may provide a 2 too global insight into the patient’s perception of perceived empowerment; they
are not specifically designed for the heterogeneity of the patient case mix. It
would be useful to construct and evaluate more specific tools to capture HrQoL
changes in AF patients more accurately in the future.
